The consortium led by Tekever puts Portugal at the forefront of innovation with a personal air transport prototype that integrates air and land mobility.

The consortium led by Tekever, in collaboration with various national organisations, has developed an innovative prototype personal air transport system, integrating air and land mobility into a single intermodal system.

The aeronautics sector is undergoing significant changes, driven by the need for technological innovation and environmental sustainability. The FLY.PT project, led by Tekever UAS and with the participation of organisations such as CEIIA, AlmaDesign, INEGI, among others, has developed a revolutionary prototype that promises to transform personal air transport.

This ambitious project aimed to create a multimodal transport system made up of an autonomous drone for air mobility and an autonomous vehicle for ground mobility, both connected by an attachable cabin. This integrated approach allows for a smooth transition between modes of transport, offering a fluid and efficient mobility experience.

FLY.PT also included the development and testing of advanced propulsion technologies, energy storage and autonomous systems, demonstrating the capacity and potential of the Portuguese aeronautical industry. With a 1:1 scale prototype, the project stood out for its innovation and collaboration between the scientific system and Portuguese industry.

By responding to the challenges of sustainable development and the electrification of transport, FLY.PT has put Portugal at the forefront of the revolution in personal air transport, preparing the country for future opportunities in the global aeronautics market.

Rui Santos, head of the FLY.PT project, spoke about the contribution of the European Funds to the objectives they set for the project:

COMPETE 2020’s support was fundamental to setting up the partnership between the various companies, universities and research centres that make up this consortium. This support has made it possible to boost the research, development and prototyping of a new modular urban air transport concept that integrates horizontal mobility with vertical mobility by combining an autonomous electric vehicle with a drone. We also believe that COMPETE 2020 support is an important factor that drives innovation, competitiveness and collaboration between the various organisations, thus contributing to economic growth. Co-financing

The project received support from COMPETE 2020 under the Incentive Systems for Research and Technological Development (Mobilising Programmes), involving an eligible investment of 5.4 million euros, which resulted in an ERDF incentive of around 3.7 million euros.
