Alexandra Vilela took part in the iTechStyle Summit 2025, as part of the panel that discussed the regulatory challenges for a more competitive and transparent textile industry.

The President of COMPETE 2030, Alexandra Vilela, took part in iTechStyle Summit 2025, a leading international conference for the textile and clothing sector. The event took place between 26 and 28 May at Alfândega do Porto and brought together hundreds of experts and opinion leaders.

Innovation and sustainability debated

Organised by CITEVE, the iTechStyle Summit once again established itself as a stage of excellence for discussing the future of the sector. The theme of this year’s event was ‘Threads of Innovation: Shaping a Smarter, Sustainable and Transparent Textile Industry’, reflecting the major trends that are transforming this industry.

Among the topics covered were artificial intelligence, advanced materials, eco-design and new regulatory requirements. The conference promoted the exchange of experiences between researchers, technology companies, industries and public organisations.

COMPETE 2030’s role on the regulatory panel

Alexandra Vilela took part in the ‘Regulatory Challenges and Opportunities’ panel, where she emphasised the need for coordination between all the players in the ecosystem. The President of COMPETE 2030 emphasised that companies need a clear and coherent framework in order to remain competitive.

‘Rather than a set of individual rules, it is essential to guarantee coherence between those who define, apply and implement them.’

In addition to Alexandra Vilela, Bruno Gonçalves and Paulo Cunha, Members of the European Parliament, Cristina Carrola, from APA, and Fernando Pimentel, from ABIT, also took part. The moderator was António Braz Costa.

The iTechStyle Summit 2025 made clear the sector’s desire to lead sustainable transformation. The commitment to innovation, digitalisation and environmental responsibility is redefining the industry’s position at European and global level.

COMPETE 2030’s participation reinforces its commitment to public policies that encourage intelligent, competitive development in line with the challenges of the future.
